Moving Pictures
It’s not only what you watch, but when. Make discoveries on odd channels. The icing on the cake: LOLcats.
We have already reviewed why a television or a screen makes for a superb supplement to pantsdrunk. But what’s worth watching while getting pantsdrunk? The basis of the following report is the most recent research from the Norra Haga Party Central Moving Pictures Research Department. Preliminary results indicate that the oeuvre of Andrei Tarkovski is not suitable for pantsdrunk—well, really under any conditions.
As with music, the selection of the appropriate moving picture depends on the practitioner’s level and the shifting circumstances and moods of the evening. Fortunately, contemporary technology facilitates the watching of just about anything just about anywhere.
Movies
Starting the evening off with dramas that touch on major themes and melancholy depictions of interpersonal relationships is not recommended, but such films are perfect for easing the transition to a boozy slumber at the end of the night. Another rule of thumb to remember is that, when pantsdrunk, it’s better to watch movies where following the plot or chain of events demands little in the way of concentration. These include 1) old favorites 2) crazy comedies 3) mindless action and sci-fi blockbusters.
Television
For many practitioners of pantsdrunk, television offers the most familiar form of white noise. Particularly in locations other than the home, the chatty murmur of a television generates an easygoing ambiance, even when muted. The fact that the flicker of a television screen is so agreeable may be instinctual, so closely does it mimic a bonfire’s glow. You won’t find a finer form of background noise for, say, engaging in social media.
